SATLANTIS and HEO Sign MoU for Government Space Domain Awareness

SATLANTIS
and
HEO
are already executing joint non-Earth imaging demonstration campaigns, with a jointly productised sovereign
space domain awareness
service targeted for delivery to government customers across Europe and beyond. HEO and SATLANTIS are proud to announce a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on delivering sovereign non-Earth
imaging
and space domain awareness capabilities to government and defence customers.
The partnership brings together HEO’s non-Earth imaging expertise, spanning hardware, software, analytics, and operational methodology proven across thousands of missions, with SATLANTIS’ track record in designing, delivering, and operating high-performance optical
payloads
and autonomous
satellite missions
in under 12 months. The combined expertise of SATLANTIS and HEO gives customers a single, trusted partner solution for complete, end-to-end sovereign space intelligence.
A central pillar of the collaboration is enabling SATLANTIS’ existing and future
satellites
to autonomously conduct non-Earth imaging operations. HEO’s computer vision techniques, mission planning methodology, and NEI software will be integrated directly into SATLANTIS’ platforms, turning assets already trusted by institutional and defence customers into a unified collection capability across both ground and space. As strategic competition in orbit intensifies, governments need priority access, assured collection, and full sovereignty over how their
intelligence
is used. Together, HEO and SATLANTIS will give them exactly that.
“Together with HEO, SATLANTIS is also unlocking how HORACIO, GEISAT and the rest of the SATLANTIS fleet can contribute to SDA missions. This creates an early-alert layer that builds upon existing
Earth Observation
investments while addressing emerging challenges in the market. It represents an additional functionality embedded within the SATLANTIS FlexSat architecture, expanding the operational value of our
constellation
. Governments can no longer depend on fragmented or non-sovereign solutions; they require trusted, mission-driven capabilities designed to evolve with their operational needs.” – Highlighted
Juan Tomás Hernani
, the CEO of SATLANTIS
.
“The national security case for sovereign space domain awareness is not new. What is new is that it is now achievable commercially, at pace, and without classified infrastructure. Partnering with SATLANTIS gives governments a path to get there, built on the most operationally mature NEI capability in the commercial market, and delivered on trusted platforms they own outright.” – Said
Dr
William Crowe,
CEO & Co-Founder of HEO.
The two companies are already underway, with joint non-Earth imaging demonstration campaigns being executed using SATLANTIS’ satellites and HEO providing mission planning, tasking, and performance analysis. These campaigns will validate capability at scale, establish performance benchmarks, and lay the foundation for a jointly productised service designed to evolve with the
sovereign intelligence requirements of government customers across Europe and beyond
. This collaboration aligns with the growing demand among European and allied governments for strategic autonomy in space, contributing to their ability to independently monitor, characterise, and respond to activity in space.
