讲座人介绍

Professor Benjamin Tee is the Vice President (Ecosystem Building) of NUS Enterprise. A serial innovator, who works at the cutting edge of materials science, mechanics, electronics and biology, he has also co-founded two successful medical technology companies: Privi Medical and Hannah Life Technologies, which translate research for real-world impact. He has started the third company to commercialize sensors for AI and robotics. His startups have raised a combined USD 10M and are revenue generating. Prof Tee leads the Sensors. AI Labs to research and develop technologies that are poised to revolutionise healthcare and robotics. His work has been recognised through numerous accolades, including the prestigious National Research Foundation Fellowship, NUS Presidential Young Professorship, MIT TR35 Innovator award, and World Economic Forum’s Young Scientist of the Year, among others. Prof Tee earned his doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 2014 and was awarded the Stanford Biodesign Global Innovation Fellowship. He is the first Stanford PhD student to win both the TSMC Gold Award and Academy Award in 2011. an advocate for a multi-disciplinary and collaborative approach to identifying and tackling grand research challenges. He also strives to achieve translational impact from his research through entrepreneurial endeavours.
报告摘要
The hyper-connected environment where humans, smart devices and robots live in synergy together is rapidly being realized within our lifetimes. Flexible, wearable sensors and systems are generating greater amounts of data for AI algorithms to understand. Continued co-development of bio-integrable and even neuro-integrable sensory systems will augment human abilities and aid in applications as health diagnostics, surgery and predictive analytics. What do we need to learn to prepare us for the future? Clearly, an integrated multi-disciplinary approach is essential to digitize almost every aspect of our lives. As examples, I will discuss some emerging materials design to develop electronic materials that can be useful as electronic skins. We envisioned that such materials and technologies can be tremendously useful in distributed conformable electronic skins, neuro-prosthetic devices and robots in the increasingly digitally augmented future.
