The Palladium Global Science Award is launching the PGSA Accelerator, a new support programme for the competition’s most promising projects, helping researchers move their innovations from early-stage science to industrial application. The programme will bring researchers together with experts and industry partners, facilitating development, pilot tests and collaborations.
Some of the strongest ideas in science and research never make it to industrial-scale production. The ethos of the Palladium Global Science Award is to champion the most innovative and groundbreaking innovations in palladium research, whether they’re at the early idea stage or close to real-world implementation. Supporting breakthrough science requires more than recognition alone – there must also be a clear pathway towards industry adoption.
The Accelerator has been created to provide that pathway. Participants in the programme can expect assistance in developing a step-by-step implementation roadmap, identifying relevant industry connections, and boosting the international profile of their projects. In turn, partner companies gain access to carefully selected early-stage technologies with strong commercial potential, identified by the accelerator’s expert community.
Selected participants will engage regularly with the Accelerator, working together to tailor a plan for progress towards industry readiness, as well as jointly preparing a series of industry-friendly presentations and documents to present the most promising ideas clearly and attractively. All intellectual property rights will remain with their creators throughout, granting participants full control over the deployment of their technologies.
The launch of the Accelerator marks the next step in the expansion of the Palladium Global Science Award ecosystem. The organizers will also convene the inaugural Palladium Future Forum in November. Together, the Competition, the Accelerator and the Forum will support researchers working on innovative palladium applications through financial support, expert consultation, and increased international visibility, in turn strengthening collaboration between science and industry.
Submissions for the second edition of the Palladium Global Science Award close at the end of the month. R&D groups, university teams and other researchers working on palladium are invited to submit their applications by 31 July. The $350,000 prize pool will be shared between five winners across the Best Scientific Development, Best Scientific Article and Best Applied Concept nominations. Furthermore, the most exciting early-stage ideas will be eligible for the PGSA Accelerator.
