Meta Ray-Ban 'Optics' Smart Glasses Look More Like Everyday Prescription Eyewear
Meta and the eyewear brand EssilorLuxottica have introduced two new Ray‑Ban Meta frames that look and feel closer to conventional prescription eyewear. The Blayzer Optics and Scriber Optics frames use the same Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 platform as earlier models, but aesthetically, their smart features are a little more discreet.
Blayzer features a sleeker, rectangular shape, while Scriber offers a rounder, softer look that more closely resembles everyday frames. Meta and EssilorLuxottica say the Optics line works with many different prescriptions, including progressives and transition lenses, so people can use them as their primary glasses instead of switching between smart glasses and regular specs. Both styles have swappable nose pads, adjustable temple tips, and flexible hinges, allowing opticians to tune the fit more like that of standard prescription glasses. They're also lighter than other Ray-Ban Meta frames, which should make them more comfortable to use throughout the day.
Surprisingly, the internal hardware stays largely the same as the previous Ray‑Ban Meta smart glasses. The frames still contain a 12MP camera, open‑ear speakers in the temples for music, calls, and Meta AI responses, and mics for voice commands. What is even more surprising is that battery life remains similar to other Gen 2 models, with a full day of mixed use in typical conditions.
The Optics line follows the earlier Ray-Ban Meta sunglasses and optical styles. It is available alongside Meta's separate Ray-Ban glasses, which have built-in screens for displaying visual information.
